Mizuno Pro 221 Golf Irons | Steel
Since the Golf World rankings were first introduced, there have only ever been 24 players to have reached the lofty position of #1 player in the world. Of that 24, 13 of those have played Mizuno irons through their career. That is a staggeringly high percentage and clearly demonstrates the level of quality that Mizuno bring to the golf iron market. When the best players demand the ultimate in precision, feel and control, they choose Mizuno. It isn't just high-level tour players that clamour for the feeling at impact that only a forged Mizuno iron can provide, club golfers all the over the world also look to Mizuno when they are looking to take their iron game to the next level.
The release of a new range of Mizuno forged irons is, quite rightly, met with enormous fervour by the adoring golfing public and so it is our pleasure to introduce to you the stunning Mizuno Pro range of forged irons. Improving on the enormously successful MP-20 range of irons was always going to be an arduous task, and yet this iconic Japanese manufacturer has succeeded once again, and with some aplomb. The Mizuno Pro range once again consists of three different irons, with each head style aimed at golfers with differing ability levels. The Mizuno Pro 221 is the direct replacement for the outgoing MP-20 and is one of the finest looking muscle back irons that has been created for some time.
In order to achieve the aesthetics and feel they were looking for, Mizuno have ground away a part of the top edge to produce a reverse taper blade design which gives this incredible iron a sharp face and clean, crisp lines. Mizuno have once again used copper underplating to further enhance the buttery soft feel at impact and gives the impression of the ball staying on the face longer though the hitting area. As with all earlier editions of the MP ranges, the Mizuno Pro 221 have been constructed using their Grain Flow Forging Process. This process was first patented in 1998 and consists of multiple forging stages using a single billet of steel and uses the metal’s natural grain to enhance the clubhead’s integrity.
The irons have been engineered in such a way as to produce a higher trajectory in the mid and longer irons and a lower flight with increased spin in the shorter irons. This allows the golfer to be more aggressive and hit it closer to the flags with every iron in the bag. Aesthetically they are simply stunning when resting behind the ball at address, with a shape that will delight all golfers that yearn for the traditional designs that Mizuno are masters at creating. Bag appeal is at an all-time high with the MP initials being replaced by the iconic Mizuno Pro text. As you might expect from a muscle back blade, the overall look is minimalistic and timeless.
If you are looking for a new set of muscle back blades that offers the absolute best in precision, feel and trajectory control, then the Mizuno Pro 221 irons should be at the very top of your list. This club is sure to be hugely popular in the bags of the better ball-strikers over the next couple of seasons and is as close to perfect as a blade can be.
